2013 Tom Cosenzi Scholarship Breakfast


On Saturday May 18^th Carla Cosenzi, President of TommyCar Auto Group - presented Tom Cosenzi   Scholarships to three Western Mass High School Seniors.  This is the third consecutive year; TommyCar Auto has offered scholarships to graduating high school students who plan to attend a two-year or four-year College, University, or Trade School. The fund is open to four designated schools that are located in the communities where the Auto Group has dealerships. 

The Tom Cosenzi Scholarship looks to serve well-rounded individuals who exhibit a strong academic background, leadership skills, and a willingness to give back.  Students applying for the scholarship were required to submit a one-page-minimum essay describing why they are deserving of the award and what their future plans include.  Many also included academic transcripts, resumes of sports, clubs, and volunteer/community involvement, as well as letters of recommendation from teachers, guidance counselors and principals.

Three recipients were chosen this year, and they and their families attended a presentation breakfast at Cosenzi's Country Nissan dealership in Hadley, where they met with Carla and were awarded their   $1,000 scholarships. Northampton High, one of the designated schools in the program, did not submit any applications this year.

Receiving 2013 Tom Cosenzi Scholarships are Avery Klepacki of Hopkins Academy in Hadley, Jocelyn Adorno of Greenfield High School, and Liana Montiverdi of Shepherd Hill Regional High School.  All have strong academic records and a history of volunteerism and community involvement. 

TommyCar Auto Supports St. Jude's Hospital





This year, the TommyCar Auto Group is a proud sponsor of the Autotrader.com St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Golf Tournament to be held on June 10th at the Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill, MA. Autotrader.com has been partnering with St. Jude's Hospital since 2001 to run multiple charity golf outings across the US every year.

The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.



Carla On Mass Appeal To Discuss The Children's Miracle Network

 
Carla Cosenzi was on WWLP's Mass Appeal on May 3rd with Chris Kellogg of 94.7 WMAS to discuss giving back to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through Carla's Northampton Volkswagen promotion in March.
 

TommyCar Donates to Helping Hearts For Hadley Schools

Carla Cosenzi, President of TommyCar  Auto Group, made a significant commitment to Hadley Schools when - earlier this year, she agreed to become a "matching sponsor" for the Helping Hearts for Hadley Schools 1^st Annual Road Race - held on April 7^th  at Hadley Elementary School.  Three of the Auto Group's four dealerships  sponsored the event, agreeing to match other sponsorships and race registration fees up to a total of $5,000.

Helping Hearts for Hadley Schools (www.helpingheartsforhadleyschools.org), is an organization that strives to encourage adults and children in the Hadley community to get active and at the same time raise funds towards special initiatives for its schools. Their first initiative was focused on improving technology in Hadley schools.

Northampton Volkswagen is Cruising for Miracles!

















After last years great turnout, we thought we would share the love with Northampton Volkswagen this year. Northampton VW  joined with the Children's Miracle Network for the month of March to donate to the Baystate Children's Hospital! We  donated $10 for every test drive, and $100 for every new car sold to the hospital, and accrued a grand total of $3,840!! Great work everyone!


Northampton Cycling Club

Northampton Volkswagen is proud to continue its online sponsorship of the Northampton Cycling Club. This is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote fun, fitness, and health through the sports of cycling and triathlon to athletes of all ages and abilities in the Pioneer Valley, and we are happy to support them in their cause.

TommyCar Auto was proud to be a table sponsor at Human resources Unlimited's Annual Recognition And Fundraiser Breakfast at Springfield Country Club on April 11th, 2013. We were happy to be a part of this event which helps a lot of great people with developmental disabilities find work and lead joyful lives.

HRU assists over 1,200 people each year living with developmental disabilities, mental illness or other disadvantages to achieve their goals and become more productive, satisfied members of our community.

Northampton Volkswagen Supports Walk For Wishes

A big thank you to those who helped make the 3rd annual Holyoke Mall Walk for Wishes such a huge success! We were extremely proud to be a sponsor of an event with over 300 walkers registered. As a result, the organization greatly exceeded its fundraising goal.

4th Annual Tom Cosenzi Driving for the Cure Golf Tournament is About Making a Difference

On September 10, 2012, we hosted the 4th annual Tom Cosenzi Driving for the Cure golf tournament.  This tournament is held in honor of Tom Cosenzi who lost his battle with brain cancer back in 2009.  All of the proceeds from this tournament go to brain cancer research facilities in the hopes of one day discovering a cure.

A long-time employee of Tom, Eric Penza said that "he always had a smile on his face, even when he became increasingly ill."  Tom Cosenzi is known for a few things: his smile, his generosity, and his excellent ability to seal the deal.  He was also very kind to all of his employees, and even if you didn't know Tom, it only took five minutes talking with him to feel like you were close friends.

All of our employees here help to make this tournament as amazing as it can be.  Every year, returning participants look forward to the golfing, lunch and dinner.  Kelsey Bover says that "It's exhausting but fun."

But this tournament is more than golfing and food, it's an opportunity to make a difference for people.  Christina Pease, a long-time employee and three-year helper for the tournament says that "It's nice to see everyone come together and participate in golfing and the dinner to show they care and want to make a difference."

Carla and Tommy Cosenzi -- two of Tom's four children, Mike Hyder, one of Tom's good friends, and Gayle Bover -- an employee and good friend to Tom -- make up the tournament committee.  From the beginning, the four of these people have worked diligently to raise as much money as possible to go toward Brain Cancer Research.  Gayle Bover says that it is satisfying "knowing we are raising money for a great cause and for keeping the memory of Tom alive."

Each year, the tournament grows bigger, with more sponsors, participation, and money.  Thanks to everyone, there may soon be a break through in discovering a cure to brain cancer!

This year, The TommyCar Auto group was a proud sponsor of the New England Learning Center for Women In Transition's 2013 Bowlathon Fundraiser. The event was held on January 26th at the French King Bowling Center. This was a very successful event, as it raised over $12,000 for abused women and children in the area.

Since 1976, the NELCWIT has been serving the Franklin Country and North Quabbin region of Western Massachusetts, providing safety planning, advocacy, and support to anyone who has survived domestic or sexual abuse. They also offer prevention education for the community, especially area youth.

The Hot Chocolate Run Keeps Us Warm!

The Hot Chocolate Run raises funds for Safe Passage, the Hampshire County organization providing shelter, counseling, and advocacy services to women and children who have experienced domestic violence. This event is Safe Passage's largest fundraising event.

The TommyCar Auto Group was a proud sponsor of the 9th annual Hot Chocolate Run in Northampton on Decemeber 2nd, 2012. Our team was dressed in layers as we ran among the 3,000 plus people in the streets in honor of the areas domestic violence victims!

Country Nissan "Cruises" for Miracles with help of 94.7 WMAS


For the entire month of February, Country Nissan sponsored "Cruising for Miracles", an organization dedicated to raising funds for children's hospitals nationwide. During this month, Country Nissan teamed up with 94.7 WMAS to raise support for the kids at the Baystate Children's Hospital on Chestnut Street in Springfield. Country Nissan and 94.7 WMAS offered support with the help of every day consumers. 

For every customer who went out on a test drive, Country Nissan donated $10. For every vehicle purchase, Country Nissan donated $100. Along with that, 94.7 WMAS matched the first $500 that Country Nissan raised. Thanks to customer involvement, Country Nissan and 94.7 WMAS were able to donate $6,640 towards the work and well-being of the Baystate Children's Hospital.

Patriot Buick GMC sponsors Pink in the Rink!

On Sunday, February 12th, Patriot Buick GMC and the Worcester Sharks joined forces to go "Pink in the Rink"! For the first time in Worcester history, the ice rink of the DCU center was dyed pink, with Sharks players wearing pink jerseys, in order to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The goal of the game was to support Cup Crusaders, an organization dedicated to the fight against cancer. The first 1,000 attendees were given a free pink t-shirt with the Worcester Sharks logo on the front, courtesy of Patriot Buick GMC, and pink wiper blades were sold to Shark fans. All proceeds from "Pink in the Rink" were donated to help the Cup Crusaders fund advanced global research and programs allowing for cancer education, screening and treatment for local community members. The pink jerseys worn during the game by players were auctioned of after the match, further benefiting the Cup Crusader's efforts. The event was a great success; thanks to everyone who came out and offered their support!Christmas tradition.
